The Story
Paul Quigley and Brian Neuhaus launched Cinderlands Beer Co. in 2018, opening their first location in the Strip District and quickly distinguishing themselves with a dual focus on creative brewing and elevated pub food. The brewery runs a foeder program for barrel-aged sours alongside a rotating tap list of IPAs, lagers, and seasonal ales.
What sets Cinderlands apart from most breweries is the food. The kitchen operates at restaurant quality, with a menu that changes seasonally and draws on local farms. The combination of serious beer and serious food in one space made Cinderlands an immediate hit.
The brewery has expanded to a second location and continues to push the boundaries of what a Pittsburgh brewpub can be.
What Makes It Pittsburgh
Cinderlands takes its name from the industrial landscape of western Pennsylvania, where cinder piles from blast furnaces once dotted the landscape. That industrial heritage informs the brewery's identity while the product itself is forward-looking and innovative.
The Strip District location places Cinderlands at the crossroads of Pittsburgh's food and drink culture, right where the old wholesale markets used to feed the city.
