The Story
Dave and Andy's has been scooping homemade ice cream on Atwood Street in Oakland since 1983. With over 200 flavors in their rotating selection and hand-rolled waffle cones made on site, the shop has been a Pittsburgh institution for over four decades.
Lines stretch out the door on summer evenings as students, families, and ice cream devotees from across the city converge on this Oakland landmark. Every flavor is made from scratch using real ingredients, and the quality has not wavered in over 40 years.
What Makes It Pittsburgh
Oakland is home to two major universities, and Dave and Andy's has been the celebratory ice cream stop for generations of Pitt and CMU students, from acing finals to graduation day. Over 40 years of serving homemade ice cream in a college town makes Dave and Andy's part of the Pittsburgh student experience.
