RoadBotics is a Pittsburgh-based technology company that uses artificial intelligence and smartphone cameras to assess road and infrastructure conditions. Founded in 2016 and incubated at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute.
What Makes It Pittsburgh
The system works by mounting a smartphone on a vehicle's windshield and driving the roads. The camera captures images that are analyzed by AI algorithms to detect pavement distress, potholes, cracks, and other damage.
RoadBotics has been adopted by hundreds of municipalities across the United States and internationally.
