The Story
Sienna Mercato is a three-story Italian restaurant and bar in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh. Owner Tom Baron created a concept where each floor offers a different experience: a meatball-focused casual eatery on the ground floor, a refined pasta and charcuterie restaurant on the second, and a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city skyline on the third.
What Makes It Pittsburgh
The rooftop bar, known as Il Tetto, has become one of Pittsburgh's most popular warm-weather destinations. With its retractable roof, fire pits, and views stretching from the Allegheny River to Mount Washington, it draws both locals and visitors who want to experience the city from above. The lower floors serve some of Downtown's best Italian food, with housemade pastas and a curated wine list.
Sienna Mercato played a significant role in the revitalization of Penn Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh. Baron's investment helped anchor a stretch of the street that has since attracted additional restaurants and retail, proving that ambitious dining concepts can thrive in the central business district.
