Air, formerly known as Govini, announced a new Strip District office as part of a 10-year Pittsburgh expansion. The company's announcement identifies $10 million as the initial capital investment and estimates $450 million in compensation, taxes and benefits over the decade. The $450 million figure is a projection of economic impact, not an office construction budget.
The announcement came July 14 at Senator David McCormick's Defense and Innovation Summit in Carlisle. Air said the new facility would accommodate hundreds of employees and was planned to open in October 2026. It also said its existing Pittsburgh workforce had already grown by nearly 67% as the expansion began.
CEO Tara Murphy Dougherty said Pittsburgh's workforce, academic institutions and technology sector were reasons for the company's expansion. The hiring and impact figures are company statements and forecasts; actual results will depend on the pace of hiring and operations.
