The Story
Priya Desai opened Bodhi Health & Wellness in 2012 with the conviction that Pittsburgh deserved a wellness space rooted in authenticity and accessibility. Having studied yoga and Ayurveda extensively, Priya created a studio where the emphasis is on personal practice, not performance—where everyone is welcome, regardless of experience level.
Today, Bodhi operates from a thoughtfully designed space on Penn Avenue in Bloomfield. The studio offers daily yoga classes across multiple styles—Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Restorative—plus personal training, nutrition counseling, and wellness workshops. The instructors are carefully selected not just for their technical skills but for their ability to create a supportive environment. Bodhi maintains partnerships with several Pittsburgh hospitals and corporate wellness programs, bringing yoga and mindfulness into clinical and workplace settings.
The studio has grown to serve over 2,000 active members and has become a cornerstone of Bloomfield's health-conscious community. Priya remains hands-on in the daily operations and curriculum development, maintaining the values that founded the space.
What Makes It Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh's strength comes from deep roots, resilience, and community connection. Bodhi embodies that by building wellness from the ground up—investing in individual practitioners, local teachers, and the idea that health is built on relationships and consistency.
Priya actively mentors yoga teachers in the region and has worked to make wellness education more accessible to underrepresented communities in Pittsburgh.
