Forbes Avenue travelers in Uptown should check their turns and bus stops before leaving home through Saturday, October 17. Pittsburgh Regional Transit has announced a three-day paving sequence with different restrictions each day, rather than one traffic pattern lasting all weekend.

Thursday and Friday: check the intersection

PRT’s October 14 notice schedules work for 7 a.m.–7 p.m. October 15–17. Thursday’s left-lane paving runs from Shingiss Street to Pride Street, with one lane open and left turns blocked at Boyd, Chatham Square, Magee and Stevenson.

Friday’s right-lane work keeps one lane open and the same left-turn restrictions. Right turns are also restricted at McAnulty, Magee and Stevenson. Armstrong Tunnel access faces intermittent restrictions Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

The tunnel restriction is described as intermittent, not a continuous six-hour closure. Still, a trip requiring that entrance should leave room for a change of approach. Do not assume that an open through lane means your intended turn remains available.

Friday bus stops change

Stops at Boyd and Stevenson close Friday; the Forbes–Pride stop moves 20 feet across the intersection. PRT says staff and flaggers will help riders board and exit.

Before a Friday trip, check the boarding location as well as the scheduled departure. If you normally meet someone at a familiar stop, agree on the current boarding point rather than relying only on its street name. Ask on-site staff where to wait when the temporary arrangement is unclear.

Saturday: side-street work continues

Saturday’s side-street paving reopens two lanes from Boyd to Stevenson, while restricting right turns and access at McAnulty, Magee and Stevenson. Weather may change the work; paving elsewhere in Uptown and Oakland continues through November.

That distinction matters for a weekend visit: the reopening described for Saturday covers a named stretch, rather than every nearby construction area. Review the day’s notice for both your arrival and return route, especially when either requires one of the affected side streets.

Keep the separate weekend notices straight

The paving notice concerns roadway access and particular stops. It is separate from the PRT technology maintenance and Sunday bus-schedule changes covered earlier by The Pittsburgh Wire. Riders planning more than one trip this weekend should check each applicable notice.

Use the linked agency notice for the detailed construction instructions and follow posted signs and staff directions on site. For questions before traveling, PRT’s customer-service page provides current contact options. A saved route plan is useful preparation, but it should not override a temporary restriction encountered at the intersection.
