Choosing dog care is easier when you can compare the service model before calling: a city drop-off, a suburban resort, overnight boarding or a facility connected to veterinary care. This guide includes five options whose official pages publish concrete details about services, location or booking. It is an editorial comparison, not a rating of care quality; confirm current availability, vaccination rules and total cost directly with each provider.
1. Big Easy Dog Daze — Lawrenceville day care and boarding
For owners looking to combine a neighborhood drop-off with overnight care, Big Easy Dog Daze & Cafe lists dog daycare, boarding and grooming at 12 McCandless Avenue in Lawrenceville. Its rate page currently lists daycare at $15 for up to two hours, $24 for up to six hours and $36 for six hours or more; standard dog boarding is listed at $60 per day, with separate holiday, medical and senior-suite rates. The business says online scheduling is available. It is adjacent to its sister organization, The Big Easy Animal Hospital. Ask what medical boarding entails and whether your pet meets its requirements before reserving.
2. Pet Palace — South Side boarding plus daytime care
Pet Palace Pittsburgh is at 2603 Sidney Street, near South 26th Street. Its official page lists dog and cat boarding, dog and cat daycare, grooming and in-home pet-care visits. It posts starting rates of $33 per day for dog daycare and $40 per day for dog boarding, with higher rates for some options and additional fees possible. The page lists hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Confirm a particular service’s current price and reservation availability before planning around those hours.
3. Camp Bow Wow — multiple locations around the region
Camp Bow Wow’s Pittsburgh-area location page lists six facilities, including Highland Park at 1325 Washington Boulevard, North at 2327 Babcock Boulevard, and South at 971 Killarney Drive. The company describes daycare and overnight boarding, with supervised play groups organized around dogs’ size, temperament and energy. It also lists climate-controlled play areas, webcams and a free first day for new campers. Call the specific location to check its evaluation process, vaccination documents, schedule and boarding routine; the chain’s page does not give one set of hours or prices for every site.
4. Pittsburgh Paws — Sewickley indoor and outdoor play
Pittsburgh Paws Pet Resort lists doggy daycare and overnight boarding, with locations in Sewickley and Natrona Heights. Its Sewickley address is 9 Ohio River Boulevard. Posted hours are 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays; Saturday hours vary seasonally, and Sunday service is split between morning and late afternoon. The company describes an indoor-and-outdoor, play-all-day model and links to a separate daycare sign-up page. Check that registration and reservation steps are complete before your first visit, and confirm holiday closures.
5. The Bark Barn — traditional boarding near Sewickley
The Bark Barn at 1301 Red Mud Hollow Road in Sewickley describes itself as a traditional boarding facility where each dog has an indoor/outdoor space. Its site says the boarding rate includes two daily let-outs, morning and evening, and directs new guests to complete a registration form. Posted customer hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.; it is closed Sundays. Because day care and boarding schedules can differ, ask which service is available on your desired dates.
Questions to settle before the first visit
Ask about a temperament evaluation, vaccine records, group-play alternatives, medication handling, feeding instructions, pickup windows and what happens if your dog needs veterinary attention. Compare the complete stay price, including holidays, add-ons and required deposits—not just the advertised starting rate. For day care, clarify the length of a full day and how breaks are handled. For boarding, ask whether overnight staff remain on site. These details help match a care arrangement to your dog’s routine and your travel or work schedule.
