Pittsburgh-area piano shoppers can compare instruments in a showroom, discuss a pre-owned model or arrange a piano for a single event. Those are different transactions: a displayed instrument, an online inventory listing and an event-rental package do not establish the same price or delivery terms.

This October 13, 2026 editorial comparison selects two local options with useful published visitor and service information. Fort Pitt Piano Company leads for its Strip District showroom, parking guidance and clearly described concert-rental process. Solich Piano adds a Wexford showroom, sizing consultations and multi-store used inventory. This is a comparison of documented services, not an independent award or a personal assessment of the instruments.

1. Fort Pitt Piano Company: plan the showroom or event visit

Fort Pitt’s homepage lists 2358 Railroad Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, phone 412-369-7100. It says the store validates parking in the Cork Factory Garage on 24th Street between Smallman and Railroad streets. Confirm the validation arrangements when planning a visit.

The contact page posts Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday hours of 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; and Sunday by appointment. It links an appointment calendar, which can help visitors arrange time to discuss a specific instrument.

The operator separates pre-owned pianos from its new-instrument offerings, including pre-owned Steinways and other makes. Ask which piano is physically available to try and request its condition, service history and applicable written warranty. A brand category does not establish the condition or coverage of every used instrument.

For concerts and one-time events, the rental description includes a tuned Steinway, professional moving and setup, followed by collection after the engagement. No standard rental price is published on that page. Request a quote identifying the piano, venue access, delivery and collection times, and included services.

2. Solich Piano: confirm where the chosen instrument is located

Solich’s Pittsburgh showroom page lists 12001 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090, phone 724-506-6370 and pittsburgh@solichmusic.com. Posted hours are Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; and Sunday by appointment, with hours subject to change.

The local page lists weekend piano rentals, trade-in and removal services, in-home sizing consultations, and Disklavier player and QRS services. Ask which service is appropriate and whether it is included in a purchase quote or billed separately. The page also retains a 2023 Opera sale banner, which should not be treated as a current October promotion.

Solich’s main website says used inventory rotates between its Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Detroit showrooms. Before traveling to Wexford for an online listing, confirm its location, availability and any transfer arrangements. The website welcomes walk-ins or a one-on-one appointment.

Its online return policy has a narrow scope: new Yamaha technology-equipped pianos purchased directly through its online cart. It expressly excludes in-store purchases and says physical-invoice terms supersede the online policy. Request the written terms for the actual purchase rather than assuming a general 30-day showroom return right.

For either option, compare the specific instrument and the complete delivery or rental scope. Routine maintenance is a separate planning question covered in our piano-tuning guide. Our Fort Pitt profile links the lead showroom’s official information and this comparison.
