Choosing ramen around Pittsburgh involves more than picking a protein. Broth ingredients, eggs, added toppings and the difference between a soup bowl and dry noodles can change what arrives—and what it costs. Two local menus make those distinctions worth reading before ordering.

Nanban in Lawrenceville leads this editorial comparison because its published menu separates vegetarian adult bowls, children’s options and individually priced extras. Fujiya Ramen’s North Fayette menu provides an alternative with detailed toppings and explicit peanut notices. These are two useful selections checked October 13, 2026, not a complete regional ranking or a report from personal tastings.

1. Nanban: vegetarian bowls, children’s portions and extras

The Nanban menu lists Shoyu Ramen at $16 with chicken nuggets, bean sprouts, an onsen egg, mayu oil and scallions. Shio Ramen is $18 with pork shoulder, a nitamago egg, butter corn, mayu oil and scallions.

Miso and Spicy Miso Ramen are each $15 and labeled vegetarian. Both descriptions include beer-battered tofu and a nitamago egg, alongside vegetables and other toppings. The vegetarian label should not be read as vegan: the listed egg is an important difference when choosing an order.

The children’s section lists chicken, tofu and pork ramen at $8.50 each. Its tofu version uses miso broth, beer-battered tofu and scallions and is labeled vegan. Check the actual selected bowl and preparation with the restaurant when an ingredient restriction matters; a label on one item does not cover the whole menu.

Published add-ons include eggs at $2, extra noodles at $4 and extra broth at $4. Adding both noodles and broth changes the bill by $8 before any other charges. Chili Garlic Oil Noodles, listed at $15, are a separate noodle dish rather than a listed ramen soup.

The official contact page identifies 4407 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201, and 412-224-2518. Hours are Monday–Thursday, noon–9 p.m., with last call at 8:45; Friday–Saturday, noon–10 p.m., with last call at 9:45. Sunday is closed.

2. Fujiya North Fayette: read the broth notices and topping list

Fujiya’s North Fayette menu lists Tonkotsu Ramen at $17.99 with pork-belly chashu, scallions, spinach, kikurage mushrooms and egg. Chicken Ramen is also $17.99 and includes chicken chashu, fish cake, scallions, spinach and egg.

Miso and Spicy Miso Ramen are $18.99, and Vegetarian Ramen is $17.99. All three descriptions explicitly say the broth contains peanuts. The vegetarian bowl also lists egg. Those notices make it particularly important to read beyond the dish name and discuss any required accommodation directly.

Spicy Yuzu Ramen, listed at $18.99, combines chicken broth with pork-belly chashu and other toppings. A chicken-based broth description does not establish a pork-free bowl. Extras are separately priced: noodles are $3, extra broth $6 and pork-belly chashu $3.

The operator’s location information lists North Fayette at 210 McHolme Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275, phone 412-428-7555. Confirm the current full schedule before traveling. This selection applies to North Fayette; it does not establish the operating status of the separately listed Shadyside restaurant.
