The Shop at SouthSide Works will remain through the end of 2026, extending the run of a Pittsburgh gallery and working studio that opened in May. Patterns of Meaning announced the extension October 5, giving visitors another place to see and buy locally made artwork during the holiday season.
The operator’s announcement identifies the location as 2708 Sidney Street, Pittsburgh, on the site of the former LTV Steel mill. The extension concerns this SouthSide Works space; it is not a new opening of the organization’s separate gallery and workshop at the Energy Innovation Center.
A gallery where work is still being made
Patterns of Meaning describes The Shop as both a gallery and a working studio. Cory Bonnet and Mia Tarducci paint there, with finished pieces and works in progress appearing on the walls. Its October update lists large paintings, ceramics, smaller framed works and prints among the offerings.
An August 28 studio update provides a more specific snapshot: new large-scale pieces included North Side scenes, layered industrial buildings and hillsides, and a painting of St. Josaphat church overlooking the South Side. That is a dated description of what had appeared, not a promise that every piece remains available in October.
The working-studio format means the display can change as artists develop and finish work. An appointment inquiry is the practical way to ask about a particular piece or artist rather than assuming an earlier photograph reflects current inventory or that an artist will be present during every visit.
Why foundry patterns are central to the collection
The organization’s project description explains that original foundry patterns from the late 1800s and early 1900s are paired with blueprints and reinterpreted through contemporary painting and sculpture. The connection to industry is the subject of the work, rather than simply a decorative theme for the storefront.
Patterns of Meaning also describes education and workforce-development programming through an initiative collaborating with METAL, the Materials Education Training and Learning project led by IACMI. Its stated formats include school curriculum, traveling exhibitions and public art experiences. Those broader programs explain the organization’s mission; the extension announcement does not establish a drop-in class schedule at The Shop.
The artists and purchase inquiries
The official team page identifies founder Cory Bonnet as a Pittsburgh oil painter and preservationist who uses salvaged materials. It also introduces artists working in ceramics, glass, wood and sculpture, alongside Pittsburgh-based oil painter Mia Tarducci. Visitors can follow the individual artist links when researching a style or medium.
For commissions, the contact page accepts inquiries about custom artwork and furniture for residential and corporate clients. A commission is a separate inquiry from choosing an available print or painting. Ask about the specific work, dimensions, price, pickup arrangements and production timing before making plans around a purchase.
Confirm the visit before traveling
The October announcement invites visitors during open hours or by appointment, but does not publish a weekly hours grid. Use its contact link to confirm a date and make clear that the inquiry concerns 2708 Sidney Street. The events page still lists June gatherings, so those older entries should not be treated as upcoming October events.
Our Shop business profile links the official extension notice and this guide. The confirmed change is the run through the end of 2026; individual hours, artwork availability and appointments need separate confirmation.
